Taff founded The Hockey Family in 2012. He is a level 2 coach & level 1 Umpire. He is so passionate about hockey that he would provide his local community with information about hockey events around the area through his personal twitter account to encourage people to take part in hockey. Taff has built 'The Hockey Family' into an internationally recognised brand within the hockey community. He is so humbled to have so many dedicated team members wanting to help promote the sport.

Claire Allen
Head of Communications and Public Relations

Claire Allen is from Northamptonshire and is a hockey and sports fanatic, following all levels from grass roots to international. Claire plays hockey as a Goalkeeper in winter leagues and ladies 7's in the summer and is also a sports coach in her spare time. Claire is a passionate sports writer who has worked for women's sports publications and is thrilled and very excited to now be writing for The Hockey Family.

Nicola Rogers

Nicola is from Northamptonshire, who likes to be called Nic. She studied Physical Education at the University of Brighton. Nic is a PE teacher who is passionate about sport and education, the benefits and positive values they promote. She has competed in sports including football, table tennis, rounders and has most recently taken up hockey.

Melina Gaspar

Melina is from Mendoza, Argentina and is very passionate about sports. She plays football and likes to run on a regular basis. She has also played basketball and handball in the past. She is very excited to write for The Hockey Family because she loves her national hockey team Las Leonas and is looking forward to writing for us, she wants to have a career as a writer and hopefully this will give her the experience. She’s finishing university and looks forward to finally taking up hockey. She’s a pizza lover and loves to read.

Sophie Parker

Sophie is a Level 3 Indoor and Outdoor Umpire from Cumbria, North West England. A graduate of the National Young Umpire Promising List, she currently runs the Cumbria Young Umpire Action Group and is a coach for young umpires in the North. When not umpiring, she plays for Keswick HC. Her highlights of umpiring so far include umpiring at junior international events in Terrassa, Spain and Belgium. Sophie will mostly be writing about issues in umpiring, both internationally and nationally.

Tao Macleod

Tao is a Coach in both Field Hockey & Football. He has a HND in Sports Coaching and a B.Sc. in Sports and Exercise. Highlights include coaching at George Heriots Former Pupils Ladies H.C. and working in both New Delhi and Mexico City. Tao’s hockey career began in England as a goalkeeper, with Tulse Hill & Dulwich, before moving to Gainsborough Rose. He also played for Grange, CALA Edinburgh and finally Waverly Inveresk Trinity, where he became the Youth Convenor.

Ana Mesén

Ana has been playing Hockey for over 8 years, she has been a part of the Costa Rica National Team for a few years taking part in two Central American Indoor Hockey events. She has been a part of and seen how indoor and outdoor Hockey has grown over the years in Costa Rica and other Central American Countries. Ana is very passionate about hockey and sharing this amazing sport with others. In her spare time she like to delve in handicraft and has made quite a few pieces.

Monse Barquero

Monse is from Costa Rica. She has been playing hockey since 2009 and only a year later had her first international cap playing indoors. She became captain of the National Team in 2015, has also been named as MVP in tournaments over the years and last year the team made history by taking part in the Central American Games for the first time. Monse is very excited to be a writer for The Hockey Family and hopes to highlight Costa Rican Hockey through her articles and help the growth of the sport as well.

Anna Wood

Anna is a soon to be Graduate of Lancaster University, studying BA Hons in Film and Creative Writing and later this year a MSc in Marketing. Whilst admittedly is a Netball player, with Hockey taking a back seat since her school days as a defender, but is still an avid Hockey fan. Anna has written match reports for her University newspaper and is looking forward to sharing her experience as a Hockey Maker at the Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup this summer. Anna's writing talents will be an asset to The Hockey Family.

Fraser is the founder of Boss Field Hockey (BossFHockey) and is very much a hockey enthusiast who is know to spend alot of spare time on the pitch and ignoring people only to later catch up to them via the internet. He has 20+ years of playing hockey and also shares that experience coaching junior hockey at his club. Fraser also loves to test new hockey sticks to let The Hockey Family know what he thinks of them and give you an idea of what you should buy. Oh and his favourite colour is Blue

Joanne Pilson

Joanne Pilson is from Doncaster, England and is the Communications Officer for Worksop Ladies Hockey Club, writing original, topical content about hockey and women's sports. Joanne plays hockey, cricket and football and enjoys them with a passion, although she's only done so for the last five years. Sport has done so much to enhance her life, she continuously encourages others to take part and does all she can to promote it.

Jemma Robbinson

Jemma Robbins is from Sheffield, England and is a coach, the junior coordinator and welfare officer for Worksop Ladies Hockey Club. She writes topical content about and covers women's hockey. Jemma enjoys hockey, netball, football and generally keeping fit but is particularly passionate about hockey after returning to the sport she loved at school four years ago. Since then she has been involved in all aspects of her club as a captain, been a hockey maker volunteer and actively promotes other women to get involved in sport.
